Volkswagen X Alia Bastamam & Thomas Wee KLFW 2015

It was a crazy week of parading KL's best local designers' works on the runway the whole of last week. Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) this year, was outstandingly pulled off by the organizers, Andrews Models Management.

As much as I want to, I had to limit myself to only a few shows as the traffic was crazy and to be frank, I don't enjoy crowded areas (and roads!). I managed to catch local designer Alia Bastamam's show and it featured many lovely pieces from the Spring/Summer 2016 collection that are feminine, flowy but subtly sexy. She describes the collection as 'Fresh & Hopeful', which is apt for her Ready-To-Wear line. She designs wedding dresses too, and the collection on her site is just as breathtaking. The shoes that were worn during the show was designed by Lewre Bespoke in a fitting collaboration with Alia Bastamam.

This fashion night was also in collaboration with Volkswagen, who has been parading their habanero orange Beetle Club at the entrance of Pavilion throughout KLFW. The collaboration was born out of a commonality of the same philosophies in solid and yet timeless designs between both brands. You can say it is where fashion meets automobile.

The night held more eye candy as her show was opened by Singaporean designer Thomas Wee, who has managed to fuse minimalism and Asian military concepts together, and he did it very well too. I loved the presentation of using Japanese music to accentuate the soft military pieces that has subtle Japanese embroidery to go with tassels.
